How can the sales reps see comments they made in the last visit, when they do next visit
My Salesreps make notes in all visits, and they would like to have this as a reminder in the next visit to the same store. Why is it necessary to book this in the to do column.?

You can always look at the appointment history, accessibe straight from the appointment. Here you will se all appointment notes added by anyone in the salesforce.

There is two ways of making this kind of notes, either you make a note of it in the current appointment and show it in the todo-list. An other way is to plan your next visit from the current appointment and then add the note to that appointment. This will give the salesrep the possibility to se the notes in the calendar for the upcoming appointment. Two ways of doing almost the same thing, with different advantages.
